Choosing the right category

Customers browse by category first. Pick the one they would tap to find you.

Most customers find businesses by tapping a category card, not by searching a name. Your category decides whose results you appear in.

Ask: what did the customer come in for?

  • A café that also sells cakes → Cafés & coffee shops, not Bakeries.
  • A convenience store with an off-licence counter → Grocery & convenience.
  • A salon doing hair and nails, mainly hair → Hair & beauty salons.
  • A garage that mainly does MOTs and servicing → Car repairs & MOT; a tyre specialist → Tyres & exhausts.

One category per listing

Each listing has one category, so results stay relevant for customers. Pick your main trade. If you genuinely run two separate businesses with separate entrances, they can be separate listings.

Changing your category

You can change it in the app under My business at any time. Changing category doesn’t reset your confirmation date.
