You can only add a business in the Around Me app, and you need to be at the business when you do it.
What you need
- An iPhone or Android phone with location services on.
- An email address you can open on the spot, for your sign-in code.
- Your business name as it appears on your sign, full address and postcode, phone number, and opening hours.
Step 1 — Sign in
Open Around Me and tap My business. Enter your email address and tap Send code. We email a 6-digit code; type it in. Codes expire after 10 minutes, and you can ask for a new one.
There is no password. Use an email address you’ll keep — confirmation reminders go there.
Step 2 — Allow precise location
Tap Add a business. The app will ask for location access:
- iPhone: choose Allow While Using App and make sure Precise Location is on.
- Android: choose Precise and While using the app.
We only read your location while you add, confirm or move a listing — never in the background.
Step 3 — Capture your pin
The app shows a live accuracy reading. When it reaches 50 metres or better, tap Use this location. If it stays above that, move towards a window or the entrance. See getting your location pin right.
Step 4 — Your details

Step 5 — Publish
Tap Publish. Your listing is live in search straight away and appears under My business. Customers can report a listing that looks wrong, and our team checks every report.
Step 6 — Remember your confirmation date
Your first confirmation is due 6 months after you add the listing, shown under My business. Read confirming your listing.
