Why every listing is confirmed from the premises
A directory is only as good as its least accurate listing. Ours are checked by the one person who definitely knows whether the business is still there: the business, standing in it.
The problem with “set and forget” listings
Most directories let a listing be created once and then leave it alone. When a business closes, moves or changes its hours, nothing forces the listing to change, so it doesn’t. Over time a meaningful share of what you find is wrong — and there’s no way to tell which.
1. Added at the premises
Businesses can’t be added on the website. In the app, the owner (or someone on their behalf) must be at the business. The app reads the phone’s GPS and only accepts a position accurate to 50 metres or better. Positions reported by mock-location apps are refused.
2. Re-confirmed every 6 months
Every 6 months the business opens the app on site and taps Confirm. The app checks the phone is within 150 metres of the pin recorded when the listing was added. The listing then shows the date it was last confirmed.
3. Missed confirmations drop out
We send reminders 30, 7 and 1 day before the due date. After a 14-day grace period, an unconfirmed listing is hidden from search automatically — whatever its tier. It isn’t deleted: confirming on site brings it straight back.
The result: every listing you can see was confirmed at its location within roughly the last 6 months.
What confirmation doesn’t prove
Being honest about this matters. An on-site confirmation shows that someone with access to the listing’s account was at the location at that time. It doesn’t guarantee opening hours are correct today, that a business is licensed or qualified, or the quality of its service. If a listing is wrong, tap Report this listing in the app and our team will review it.
